Overview
As a Consultant Rheumatologist you will join an established team to deliver outpatient rheumatology care for the Northampton General Hospital catchment. You will work within a 10PA full-time post, collaborating with specialist nurses and a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality services and support for inpatients when needed. The role offers involvement in biologic/infusional therapies and the potential to participate in clinical trials. This position fits within a group model with regional training and opportunities to shape rheumatology care in the Trust.
Responsibilities
- Deliver outpatient rheumatology care as part of the consultant team
- Support the nurse-led helpline and inpatient advice service during working hours
- Have admitting rights for rheumatology patients when required
- Participate in care pathways with ward-based medical teams
- Involvement in biologic/chemotherapy services and infusions via the medical day unit
- Engage in clinical trials within the dedicated research unit
- Contribute to training through regional meetings and supervision of trainees
- Align with Trust-wide modernisation and collaboration initiatives
Key requirements
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification
- GMC specialist register or obtain a relevant CCT/CESR(CP) within 6 months of interview
- Completion of Specialty Training (CST or equivalent) in Rheumatology or Rheumatology and General Medicine
- Full GMC registration
