Overview
As Ward Manager for SCBU you will lead the neonatal nursing team and be responsible for 24/7 management of the clinical area. You will drive a safe, compassionate, high-quality service aligned with Trust vision, values and patient experience. You’ll provide visible professional leadership, model expert clinical practice, and shape nursing care to support families and staff. This is a values-driven role at a Trust focused on teamwork and improvement, offering scope to influence care standards and policy development.

Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the neonatal ward nursing team and management of the clinical area
- Provide professional nursing leadership and act as a role model
- Assess care needs, develop and evaluate care programmes
- Uphold Trust vision and values in practice and evaluate impact on patient experience
- Ensure policies and procedures are implemented and nursing practice is developed
- Maintain high visibility and access to senior staff for patients and staff
- Develop ward philosophy and models of care to improve patient experience
- Lead on development of nursing practice and monitor its impact on care quality
Key requirements
- RN/RSCN/RM with current NMC registration
- QIS trained
- Governance experience
- BSc Degree in relevant field
- Significant experience in the specialty with professional development
- Leadership development programme
- Teaching qualification/mentorship course
- Evidence of recent clinical study
- Safeguarding level 3 or 4
- Team leadership and change management experience
- Policy development and resource management experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective leadership and team-building abilities

- IT literate
