Overview
In this role you will deliver specialist psychological and neuropsychological services across stroke rehabilitation and chronic pain pathways. You will contribute to psychologically informed rehabilitation, assessment, formulation and intervention, working within multidisciplinary teams to support long-term condition management. Expect to supervise and teach, contribute to audits and service development, and promote psychological approaches across integrated physical healthcare services. This post combines SESD and Chronic Pain Psychology Service to enable cross-service collaboration and continuity of care.

Responsibilities
- Provide specialist clinical psychology and neuropsychology services within stroke rehabilitation and chronic pain pathways
- Undertake specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessments, formulations and interventions
- Support psychologically informed rehabilitation and pain management approaches
- Provide specialist consultation, teaching and support to multidisciplinary colleagues
- Contribute to rehabilitation goal setting, discharge planning and complex care planning
- Undertake risk assessment and risk management
- Support carers and families adjusting to stroke-related disability, chronic pain and long-term health conditions
- Contribute to service evaluation, audit, quality improvement and service development
- Promote psychologically informed approaches across integrated physical healthcare services
Key requirements
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent recognised by the HCPC
- HCPC registration as Practitioner Psychologist
- Desirable: Postgraduate neuropsychology training
- Experience of neuropsychological assessment
- Experience of psychological assessment and intervention with adults with complex needs
- Experience of multidisciplinary working
- Strong formulation and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and within MDT settings
- Commitment to psychologically informed rehabilitation and physical healthcare psychology
- Desirable: Experience within stroke rehabilitation services
- Desirable: Experience within chronic pain or physical health psychology services
- Desirable: Experience of supervision, teaching or service development
- Desirable: Knowledge of stroke rehabilitation pathways and chronic pain management
- Strong formulation and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and within MDT settings
- Adapt interventions to cognitive and communication difficulties
- Neuropsychological assessment
