Overview
As Executive Director of People and Culture, you will sit on the Trust Board and lead the strategic people, workforce and organisational development agenda. You will shape culture, oversee workforce plans and provide senior-level advice and assurance on performance, inclusion and colleague experience. You will work with board colleagues and system partners to enable the organisation’s ambitions through effective people leadership. This is a pivotal senior role at a time of transformation and growth, offering a meaningful opportunity to influence culture and capability across a large NHS organisation.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic people, workforce and organisational development across the Trust
- Provide expert advice, assurance and constructive challenge on workforce performance to the Board and committees
- Shape culture, inclusion and colleague experience to support delivery of organisational objectives
- Drive workforce transformation, organisational redesign and cultural change with measurable impact
- Influence senior leaders and system partners to align workforce strategy with financial and governance contexts
- Manage high-performing People and Culture functions including HR and OD
- Collaborate with trade unions, system partners, regulators and professional bodies
- Oversee leadership, management development, engagement, wellbeing and talent initiatives
- Ensure governance and risk management related to workforce are robust and evidence-based
Key requirements
- Master's degree level education or equivalent
- Chartered Fellow of the CIPD (FCIPD)
- Significant senior experience in people, workforce or organisational development in a large, complex organisation
- Board-level or near-Board level leadership experience
- Proven track record of designing/delivering people strategies, workforce transformation and cultural change with measurable outcomes
- Experience providing evidence-based advice and assurance to Boards on workforce performance, risks and improvement
- Experience using workforce analytics and benchmarking to influence strategy
- Experience leading multidisciplinary People and Culture functions and managing budgets
- Strong partnership working with unions, system partners, regulators and stakeholders
- Knowledge of NHS workforce policy, governance, and financial context
