Overview
In this role, you will join the expanding Critical Care team at QEQM Hospital to deliver high-level care across nine Level 3 beds. You contribute to professional development, teaching, and research within a collaborative NHS environment. The post supports a strategic trust expansion in critical care and offers opportunities to shape patient care, education, and clinical governance. Responsibilities
- Provide care in the expanding Critical Care unit (Level 3) and participate in the 1:8 consultant rota
- Collaborate with anaesthetic colleagues and other departments (ED, AMU, radiology)
- Engage in teaching, audit, and research activities; support medical students and trainees
- Support and contribute to clinical governance, morbidity and mortality review
- Utilize advanced ventilation modes and ultrasound-based skills in patient management
- Participate in teaching and training activities (FICE, echocardiography)
- Contribute to service development and cross-specialty collaboration
Key requirements
- Full GMC Registration
- CCT Specialist Registration (or plan to obtain within 6 months) in intensive care medicine and one of anaesthetics, emergency medicine or acute medicine or CESR equivalent
- English level 2 or equivalent
- Desirable: FFICM, EDIC, FCEM, MRCP, FRCA
- Formal teaching or instructing qualification is desirable
- Experience in morbidity and mortality review and clinical audit
