Join Priory Hospital Southampton as a Consultant Psychiatrist on the Sandpiper Ward. You will provide consultant-level care for up to 18 inpatients, lead MDT meetings, and develop tailored treatment plans. You will supervise the Specialty Doctor and collaborate with NHS partners to drive governance and service improvement. This role combines clinical leadership with discharge planning and risk management to support recovery-focused inpatient care. Responsibilities
- Provide consultant psychiatric care for up to 18 inpatients, including comprehensive assessments, ward rounds and patient-centered treatment.
- Offer clinical leadership for the ward, chair MDT meetings, support decision-making and ensure safe, recovery-focused care.
- Supervise and support the Specialty Doctor, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team for clinical excellence and professional development.
- Contribute to service development through clinical governance, audits, senior management meetings and improvement initiatives; build relationships with NHS partners and commissioners.
- Support patient flow via regular clinical reviews, risk management and discharge planning.
Key requirements
- Current GMC Registration
- Specialist Registration in a Psychiatric Specialty
- Approved Clinician status, or eligibility to apply for Approved Clinician status
- Experience in UK acute inpatient psychiatry within NHS and/or independent sector
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team; relocate if needed
