Overview

In this role you will support the breast imaging service, joining a multidisciplinary team to provide screening and symptomatic breast care. You will interpret screening mammograms, perform image-guided procedures, and contribute to one-stop clinics with surgeons and radiologists. You’ll participate in MDTs, patient communication, and clinical governance, while developing your CPD within a supportive environment. This opportunity combines high-volume screening with advanced imaging and interventional techniques in a leading NHS unit.

Responsibilities

  • Reading screening mammograms
  • Clinical and imaging assessment of screen-detected abnormalities
  • Image-guided breast biopsy and excision
  • Breast evaluation within the symptomatic service
  • MDT attendance and contribution
  • Communication with patients, relatives, carers and primary care
  • Administration related to clinical work
  • Involvement in teaching, audit and governance meetings
  • Potential deputising for absent colleagues

Key requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full postgraduate examination (e.g., MRCP UK MRCS MRCPCH MRGP) desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage diverse presentations
  • Experience in breast diagnostic and clinical services desirable
  • Understanding of research/audit principles and evidence-informed practice
  • UK professional registration at time of application
