Overview
In this role you will provide a clinical pharmacy service to designated mental health inpatient teams and drive medicines optimisation. You will act as the expert pharmacological advisor to the multidisciplinary team and lead patient-centred medicines discussions. The post includes supervision of junior staff and involvement in workforce development and training. You may rotate through multiple mental health specialisms and collaborate with the wider MDT to improve service quality and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and monitor clinical pharmacy services within the directorate
- Implement and audit clinical pharmacy standards with a focus on high-quality, patient-centred care
- Identify gaps in the service and drive positive Change through Quality Improvement methodologies
- Oversee stock control and cost-effective medicine usage on inpatient wards
- Collaborate with the Clinical Lead to deliver service improvements and staff development
- Support new graduates and contribute to mentorship and training
- Engage with multi-disciplinary team to optimise medicines use for mental health patients
Key requirements
- Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy
- Pre-registration training
- GPhC and/or RPS registration
- Experience in clinical pharmacy in a mental health setting (desirable)
- Clinical audit experience
- Mentorship and education experience (desirable)
- Willingness to pursue psychiatry qualification (desirable)
