In this role you will lead the delivery of high-quality forensic services in a fast-paced environment. You’ll align operations with performance targets, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, working closely with leaders and external partners. You will shape and improve forensic services to meet current and future demands, balancing safe, efficient care with continuous improvement. Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operational management of forensic services
- Ensure services meet performance targets and quality standards
- Monitor and improve performance using KPIs, audits, and reviews
- Manage budgets, resources, and workforce planning
- Motivate, develop and lead multidisciplinary teams
- Ensure compliance with legislation, regulatory frameworks, and policies
- Identify, manage and mitigate operational risks
- Develop and implement service improvement and transformation initiatives
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders (criminal justice, healthcare, law enforcement, regulators)
- Produce operational reports and provide assurance to senior management
Key requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience
- Professional qualification in mental health (RMN, Social Work, OT, Psychology)
- Extensive operational management experience in forensic mental health services
- Experience managing inpatient mental health services
- Experience leading services through organizational change
- Experience collaborating with senior nursing leaders while retaining operational responsibility
- Strategic thinking and planning
- Strong leadership and motivational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of NHS operational performance frameworks (activity, flow, finance, workforce)
- Understanding of CQC standards and regulatory expectations
- Clinical audit, quality improvement methodology and governance systems
