Overview
In this role you will deliver high-quality diagnostic and rehabilitation audiology services for babies, children and young adults, across two hospital sites. You will work autonomously at a senior level within a patient-centred, multidisciplinary team, handling complex cases and contributing to policy, training, and service development. You will engage families in care planning and drive clinical excellence through advanced skills and up-to-date knowledge. Responsibilities
- Provide autonomous clinical assessment and rehabilitation for adults and children (newborn to young adult)
- Create individual rehabilitation plans with patient/family involvement
- Manage patients with complex or additional needs
- Build rapport and promote self-management in clinics and at home
- Maintain specialist knowledge across routine and non-routine testing and technologies
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, patients, families and other agencies
- Conduct domiciliary visits and ward-based assessments as required
- Contribute to policy development, procedures, and training materials
- Maintain departmental statistics and hospital records (PMS, stock, equipment calibration)
- Participate in professional training, mentoring, and preceptorship programs
Key requirements
- MSc Audiology or STP (Audiology) or BSc/PTP + Paediatric-relevant HTS modules
- Experience in training and supervision of staff and students at specialist level
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team, with excellent clinical and communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Effective communication with hearing impaired patients and families
- Ability to convey highly complex information clearly and empathetically
- Motivated, flexible and able to use initiative
- Current UK professional registration (desirable: HCPC Clinical Scientist)
- Confidentiality and medical fitness awareness
