Overview

In this role you will deliver highly specialist clinical psychology assessment, intervention and advice to rehabilitation patients and their families, within a multidisciplinary setting. You will supervise Trainee/Assistant Psychologists and contribute to teaching, research, and service development. The position supports professional growth through strong mentoring, CPD, and involvement in innovation at the National Rehabilitation Centre. You will help shape psychological care for musculoskeletal and brain injury conditions and participate in governance and national guidelines interpretation. This role offers cross-site collaboration with NUH and the NRC’s ambitious rehabilitation goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide highly specialist clinical psychology assessment, intervention and advisory input to patients and families
  • Advise other NRC staff to address psychological needs of patients (indirectly)
  • Contribute to teaching and training of NRC staff and supervise trainees/Assistant Psychologists
  • Supervise the clinical work of Assistant Psychologists and potentially supervise a trainee Clinical Psychologist
  • Contribute to planning, development, delivery and evaluation of the rehabilitation service
  • Lead or supervise research activities within the clinical psychology/neuropsychology programme
  • Engage in clinical governance activities and follow national guidelines/local policy
  • Work core hours on-site and support major incident responses as needed

Key requirements

  • BPS accredited doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology
  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist
  • Experience with diverse patient groups across health conditions
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary and NHS hospital setting
  • Desirable: further training in a highly specialised psychological therapy or assessment methodology
  • Current UK professional registration
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong teaching and supervision skills
  • Good communication with patients, families and staff
  • Specialised clinical assessment and intervention techniques in psychology
  • Supervision of trainees and junior staff
  • Research design and governance related to clinical psychology
