Overview

In this Team Leader role, you will supervise the Cardiology administrative teams to deliver a responsive, patient-focused service. You will oversee bookings, manage patient pathways and support performance against local and national targets. You’ll work with clinicians and the wider team to drive service improvement and ensure high-quality data and patient experience. Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Waiting List Coordinators, Receptionists and administrative staff with workload allocation, induction, training, and absence management
  • Oversee admitted and non-admitted PTLs, validate six-week diagnostic breaches, and support DM01/non-DM01 performance targets
  • Manage patient bookings across Cardiology diagnostic services and monitor patient pathways for timely progression
  • Respond to complex queries and escalate issues as needed to maintain service continuity
  • Support staffing during short-term shortages to ensure ongoing pathway management
  • Maintain accurate patient information and high data quality across Cardiobase and CareFlow
  • Collaborate with Associate Operations Manager, Consultants, Physiologists and broader team to resolve operational issues
  • Support audits, performance reviews, service meetings, and improvement actions
  • Contribute to service development and ongoing improvement of administrative processes and patient experience

Key requirements

  • Excellent communication and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage fluctuating workloads and priorities
  • Computer literacy with accurate keyboard skills
  • Knowledge of NHS services and healthcare administrative systems
  • Experience with databases, spreadsheets and patient administration systems (e.g., Excel)
  • Experience using clinical and patient data systems
  • Understanding of medical terminology and Cardiology patient pathways
  • Knowledge of confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, equality and diversity
  • Significant NHS or acute medical department experience
  • Customer care experience and staff supervision experience
  • Experience with other clinical IT systems is desirable
