We are looking to recruit an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor who possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with a diverse range of clients in our clinics. This permanent post is based at the St Stephen's Centre (SSC) at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in John Hunter Clinic for Sexual Health.
We are aiming to attract a doctor who has a good working knowledge of the NHS with a minimum of 2 years' experience in sexual health and contraception. There is no on-call component associated with this post. John Hunter Clinic provides a comprehensive Level 3 sexual health and contraception service.
We will encourage and support the post holder to gain formal qualifications in sexual and reproductive health, including Letters of competence in LARC insertion. You will be encouraged to participate in audit, research and teach medical students attached to the team. You will be expected to gain further experience within our complex GU clinics / LARC services.
Main duties of the job include running specialist GUM clinics, including male and female chronic problem clinics, High Resolution Anoscopy, commercial sex workers clinic, sexual dysfunction service, as well as clinic for Complex PrEP. In addition, we run daily contraception clinics, including provision of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) as well as Complex LARC. The Directorate is also closely involved with the Trust Research Department including multiple GUM and HIV clinical drug trials taking place in the UK.
The post holder would be expected to gain further experience within these more specialised services along with the complex GU clinics / LARC services and Complex PrEP as well as Outreach.

Job responsibilities:
- Provide a range of clinical care within Sexual Health and contraception consistent with the overall role and grade of the post.
- Provide, develop and monitor clinical sessions to best meet the needs of the patients.
- Accept responsibility for the maintenance and development of his/her own clinical skills/knowledge.
- Treat all patients in a sensitive non-judgmental manner.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with national and local policies.
- Participate in clinical audit, supporting the clinical lead consultant in ensuring that the practice of medical colleagues reflects current research findings, and is in line with Trust procedures.
- Ensure that service standards and protocols are kept up-to-date, working with team colleagues to facilitate in-house training/updating programmes as required.
- Work flexibly across a variety of clinical settings.
- Participate in the provision of expert clinical advice and professional leadership as part of the Sexual Health and HIV Service Team.

Person Specification:
- Education and Qualifications: Full GMC registration, DFSRH, LOC in SDI/IUT EDiploma in GUM.
- Experience: GUM/HIV experience, experience of implementing and providing health promotion, training in and practical experience of complex safeguarding.
- Skills and Knowledge: Comprehensive theoretical and clinical knowledge of GUM and HIV related health conditions, ability to undertake comprehensive history taking in GUM and Contraception, experience in the role of self-management in chronic illness and able to assist patients to achieve this effectively, ability to work efficiently under pressure, manage competing priorities and an unpredictable workload.
