In this role, you will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.
Main duties of the job:
- Deliver high-quality medical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with complex mental health needs, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred care.
- Work closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist and multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and regularly review individual care and treatment plans.
- Conduct ward rounds, clinical reviews, and risk assessments, supporting patients throughout their recovery journey.
- Prescribe medication safely and maintain accurate, timely clinical records in line with GMC standards, relevant legislation, and organisational policies.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement initiatives, and service development to enhance patient outcomes and standards of care.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to junior medical colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team, promoting collaborative and evidence-based practice.
Person Specification Requirements:
- Essential experience: Candidates must hold full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise and have completed at least four years of postgraduate medical training, including a minimum of two years in a relevant speciality.
- Previous experience working in psychiatry, with the ability to assess, diagnose, and manage patients with complex mental health conditions.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams, carrying out risk assessments, developing treatment plans, maintaining accurate clinical records, and prescribing safely in line with current clinical guidance.
- Sound understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding, and clinical governance principles.
