Overview
In this role you will lead and develop clinical pharmacy services for the Paediatric Unit within the CYP team at Royal Marsden Sutton. You will work in a multidisciplinary setting to optimise medicines use, support budget management, and contribute to high-quality cancer care for children and young people up to 24. The post supports bone marrow transplantation services and aims to align practice with national standards and NHS plans. Responsibilities
- Identify preventable medicine-related errors and drive learning
- Develop and enhance paediatric clinical pharmacy services aligned with national objectives
- Communicate pharmacotherapy issues to clinicians and managers to shape services
- Monitor evidence to implement policies improving treatment outcomes
- Develop and maintain drug protocols and treatment guidelines for disease management
- Provide evaluated pharmaceutical information to the Drug and Therapeutics Committee
- Monitor prescribing trends and prepare monthly drug expenditure reports
- Forecast prescribing changes and assess impact on the drugs budget
- Coordinate with service planning and clinicians to adapt practices to budget needs
Key requirements
- GPhC registration as a Pharmacist
- MSc/Diploma in Pharmacy Practice
- Desirable: Independent prescribing qualification
- Significant NHS Hospital Pharmacy experience
- Oncology or Paediatric pharmacy experience
- DUR and clinical audit experience
- Desirable: experience delivering training to multidisciplinary teams
- Desirable: budget management and directorate support
- Desirable: experience with clinical trials
- Ability to work effectively in a team
