Overview

In this role you will lead day-to-day management of unplanned care services, focusing on elective recovery, patient experience, operations, and budget control. You will work with clinicians and across multidisciplinary teams to improve patient pathways and ensure targets are met. You’ll develop capacity plans and support strategic service redesign to deliver integrated, high-quality care. The position offers impact across the Trust’s CARES values and enables you to drive continuous improvement in a complex, changing environment. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape service delivery in partnership with clinical leads and managers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day management of services with emphasis on elective recovery, patient experience, operational performance, and budgetary control
  • Lead an administrative team and collaborate with Consultants, Matron/Lead Nurses, Ward/Outpatient Managers, and medical staff to improve patient pathways
  • Develop and implement capacity plans to meet access targets and deliver savings within the portfolio
  • Support senior leadership in strategic planning for integrated care and service redesign for acute hospital services
  • Lead service development and improvements to patient pathways with clinical leads and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ensure delivery of key national and local targets such as RTT, cancer, and diagnostic waiting times
  • Promote safe and efficient services in line with CARES values
  • Engage with external agencies and stakeholders to support service improvement

Key requirements

  • NHS Operational Management Experience
  • Practical experience of managing complex operational pathways
  • Practical experience of delivering compliance of Constitutional Standards
