Overview
As Senior Specialist Screening Practitioner, you contribute to delivering a high-quality bowel cancer screening service within a multidisciplinary team. You will work autonomously while building collaborative relationships across professional boundaries, developing patient pathways and nursing services at the Bowel Cancer Screening Centre. You’ll provide expert care and guidance in your specialist area, supported by evidence-based practice. The role may involve flexibility in location and shifts to serve diverse screening populations, including leadership of junior SSPs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a comprehensive bowel cancer screening service as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team
- Work autonomously and build cross-functional collaborations to develop patient pathways
- Develop and lead the nursing service within the BCSC
- Provide expert knowledge and evidence-based care in your specialist area
- Oversee day-to-day management, appraisals, and development of junior SSPs, SPs, and ASPs
- Support screening in multiple locations, including satellite units, with flexible working hours
- Maintain clinical governance, risk management, and informed consent processes
- Ensure delivery of BCSP objectives, targets, and standards
Key requirements
- Experience working as an SSP in the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme
- BCSS IT Training course
- Advanced Communication skills course
- SSP Course (LJMU)
- IMER Course
- Current UK professional registration
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a diverse team
