Overview

As Training Officer in Paediatric Audiology, you will supervise and mentor trainees on the Scientist Training Programme while maintaining high clinical standards. You will support diagnostic and aural habilitation services for neonates and children, including complex cases, and contribute to service development and IQIPS accreditation. You will lead education activities, supervise junior staff, and ensure ongoing professional development. This role offers the chance to shape paediatric care and training within a collaborative, patient-centred team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic audiological assessments for neonates and children in hospital and community settings
  • Perform ABRs in clinic, under sedation, and in theatres
  • Deliver aural habilitation and counselling to families
  • deputise for the clinical lead and ensure safety standards
  • Line management duties including 1:1s, PDRs, wellness reviews
  • Lead education and training for department staff and trainees
  • Supervise trainee and assistant audiologists in Audiological techniques
  • Support CPD and professional exam preparation for staff
  • Maintain IQIPS accreditation processes and service development

Key requirements

  • Post-qualification clinical experience
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge in paediatric audiology
  • State registration as Clinical Physiologist in Audiology with RCCP or equivalent (HCPC)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to reassure and support families
  • Audiological objective and subjective assessment of neonates, children and adults
  • Interpreting test results to guide treatment
  • Application of hearing aids for paediatric users
