Overview
In this role you will join the Department of Congenital Heart Disease as a Consultant, contributing to a large, cross-site congenital cardiac programme. Based at Evelina London Children's Hospital with sessions at Royal Brompton, you will lead and support both paediatric and adult congenital surgery. You will be on call for congenital procedures and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across sites. This role offers leadership opportunities in a high-volume program that shapes care from neonates to ACHD.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert care across the full range of congenital cardiac surgery
- Work across Evelina London and Royal Brompton sites to support the Adult Congenital Programme
- On-call for paediatric and adult congenital surgery
- Engage with a multidisciplinary team including paediatric and adult cardiologists and intensivists
- Demonstrate adaptability to work at multiple locations as required by service demands
- Mentor junior surgeons and contribute to departmental leadership and governance
Key requirements
- GMC Registration and a Licence to Practise
- FRCS (CT) or equivalent
- Has or eligible for GMC Specialist Registration in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Essential: at least 4 years' consultant-level paediatric cardiac surgical experience with mentoring
- Evidence of outcomes and case complexity across full spectrum of procedures
- Strong communication skills
