Overview
In this role you will lead crisis assessments and short-term CAMHS care within a 24/7 framework. You will work across hospital and community settings as part of a nurse-led CAMHS Response Team, collaborating with SLP partners to support young people at risk of crisis. You will influence assessment, risk management, and treatment planning to provide timely, impactful care. This position offers a chance to shape 24-hour crisis provision and cross-sector collaboration in a dynamic NHS environment.
Responsibilities
- Screen referrals
- Conduct independent mental health crisis assessments in A&E and community settings
- Assess and manage risk in multiple environments
- Plan, implement, and evaluate treatment and therapeutic interventions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues across health, social care, and education
- Support and supervise junior staff and learners
- Contribute to the development of the 24-hour crisis provision
- Engage with internal and external partners to coordinate care for young people and families
Key requirements
- Experience in CAMHS / acute settings
- Significant clinical experience and CPD
- Experience as a preceptor / mentor
- Knowledge of clinical governance, audit, safeguarding, and mental health legislation
- Professional registration with NMC, HCPC, ACP, or UKCP
- Mentorship qualification (desirable)
- Masters' degree (desirable)
