Overview
In this role you support the delivery of safeguarding across CHS, advising staff, promoting high-quality safeguarding practice, and contributing to multidisciplinary safeguarding governance. You will work across acute and community settings, under supervision, to build specialist safeguarding knowledge and enable career progression. The role combines training delivery, policy contribution, and collaboration with partners to improve outcomes for adults and children in Croydon. A meaningful hook is shaping safeguarding practice within a large, integrated NHS trust.
Responsibilities
- Provide safeguarding advice and guidance to staff across clinical and non-clinical areas
- Contribute to safeguarding training delivery in line with Intercollegiate requirements
- Support audits and health research related to safeguarding
- Promote staff understanding of safeguarding policies, procedures and relevant legislation
- Assist with developing and implementing safeguarding policies, procedures and standards
- Escalate cases needing additional safeguarding support to Safeguarding Advisors
- Collaborate with MARAC, Channel and other multi-agency panels; strengthen information sharing
Key requirements
- Statutory professional body registration; Adult Nursing or Mental Health Nursing
- Professional degree or diploma or postgraduate qualification in a specialist field
- Minimum 3 years clinical nursing experience
- Experience working with adults at risk or experiencing abuse/neglect; multi-agency working
- Experience delivering training; evidence of CPD
- Knowledge of Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, DoLS, PREVENT; awareness of safeguarding governance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative team player
- Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment
- Knowledge of safeguarding laws and guidelines (Care Act 2014, MCA, DoLS, PREVENT)
- Experience with electronic patient records and documentation standards
- Ability to conduct audits and participate in health research
