North London NHS Foundation Trust Pharmacy Department is offering exciting rotational pharmacist opportunities, with structured training and a clear pathway from Band 6 to Band 7. As a Rotational Mental Health Pharmacist, you will gain experience across two sites and a range of services, including inpatients, rehabilitation and older adult services, providing medicines optimisation, clinical pharmacy support and patient-centred care. Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will collaborate with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to improve outcomes for service users.

Available Posts: We are recruiting two permanent band 6 to 7 rotational pharmacist positions: 1 Post - Highgate Mental Health Centre, N19 5NX and 1 Post - St Ann's Hospital, N15 3TH.
Main duties of the job
- BAND 6
- To be responsible for the provision and contribute to the development of clinical pharmacy services, in conjunction with the Lead Pharmacists.
- To provide input into policy and procedures affecting the use of pharmaceuticals at both local and trust wide levels under direction.
- To provide and participate in the following: ward-based clinical pharmacy, in-patient and outpatient dispensing (including supporting the clozapine dispensing service), patient counselling, medicines information, audit.
- BAND 7
- The Senior Clinical Pharmacist will play a pivotal role in delivering a high-quality, patient-focused pharmacy service to mental health wards, forensic wards, community teams, and rehabilitation and crisis services within the Trust. This includes supporting medicines optimisation, promoting safe and effective use of medicines, and contributing to clinical governance.
- The post-holder will supervise junior staff and trainees, contribute to education and training initiatives, and support quality improvement (QI) programs.
- The role requires collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and external partners, with the flexibility to adapt to evolving service needs.

- Qualifications/ Registrations
- Essential: Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent; Membership with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC); Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.
- Desirable: RPS membership; Commitment to CPD evidenced through participation in suitable programmes.
- Skills/ Abilities
- Essential: Good time management skills and ability to prioritise; Accurate dispensing, checking and prescription monitoring skills and ability to follow written procedure; Problem Solving skills; Ability to establish recording systems and to provide necessary reports; Ability to work both independently and as part of the multidisciplinary team; Ability to adapt to changing environments, needs and demands; Good communication skills - Written and verbal; Communicate medicine related information to patients, relatives, prescribers; Patients may have language difficulties, physical or mental disabilities; Ability to work closely and form good working relationships with a wide range of people; Act as a positive role model, dynamic, motivated caring and supportive; Problem solving Skills.

- Experience/ Knowledge
- Essential: Experience of provision of Medicines Information and associated systems; Experience of providing medicines education to users and carers; Knowledge of relevant pharmaceutical standards of practice; Knowledge of recent initiatives in pharmacy.
- Desirable: Hospital pharmacy experience minimum of 1 year as pharmacist; Experience of working in a pharmacy service for people with mental illness.
