Overview
In this role, you will inspect registered pharmacies to ensure compliance with GPhC standards and support improvements where needed. You’ll work remotely to monitor premises, provide evidence-based judgments, and collaboratively inform enforcement when necessary. You will also contribute to registration decisions and share best practices to advance pharmacy quality. This is a mission-driven position focused on patient safety and high professional standards.

Responsibilities
- Schedule and deliver a programme of monitoring and inspection of registered pharmacies
- Assess pharmacy performance against GPhC standards and ensure auditable judgments
- Recommend improvements and apply non-statutory or statutory enforcement when needed
- Inspect new premises applying to join the register and advise on registration suitability
- Engage with registrants, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders; collaborate with other inspectorates
- Collaborate with Enforcement and Concerns teams to inform investigations and fitness to practise
- Identify and promote innovative practice through knowledge hub case studies
- Promote the GPhC’s work and engage with registrants and stakeholders
- Collect and report information using data management systems
- Maintain and update professional competencies through training
Key requirements
- Registered Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician with substantial recent experience in pharmacy service delivery
- Solid understanding of GPhC statutory responsibilities and relevant legislation
- Ability to conduct professional inspections and determine enforcement actions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams
- Strong prioritisation and ability to handle operational pressures
- IT competency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn other IT systems (e.g., databases)
- Full UK driving licence
- Familiarity with risk management, health and safety, information security, data protection and business continuity policies
- UK professional registration currently in force
