Overview
In this leadership role, you will oversee pharmacy procurement and invoicing activities to ensure safe, cost-effective medicine supply. You will partner with senior pharmacy leaders, finance teams and national procurement bodies to drive value, reduce waste and deliver medicines efficiency projects. You will manage supplier relationships and ensure governance and regulatory compliance while guiding a multidisciplinary pharmacy team. Responsibilities
- Oversee procurement and invoicing teams to ensure safe, cost-effective supply
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimise value and minimise waste
- Lead medicines efficiency projects aligned with cost-improvement targets
- Manage relationships with suppliers and NHS stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with governance, legal, and regulatory standards (including GDP)
- Support and inspire the procurement team to deliver high-quality, responsive services
Key requirements
- Significant post-qualification experience in hospital pharmacy procurement
- Experience and knowledge of the pharmacy management system (CMM)
- Experience in managing teams
- Strong leadership and people-management
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Collaborative cross-team collaboration
- Specialist knowledge of medicines procurement and supply chain management
- Project management
- Understanding of stock control systems
