Triage & Urgent CareA
different kind of GP role in a forward-thinking practiceAmersham
Vale Practice | Deptford, Southeast LondonLove
being a GP but looking for something a little different?
Do you enjoy the challenge of clinical triage,
managing urgent presentations, making decisions and helping patients access the
right care at the right time?
Would you enjoy a role where your clinical expertise
is used primarily in assessing, prioritising and managing patients with a wide
range of clinical needs, rather than spending most of your working week in
traditional GP clinics?
If so,
we may have just the role for you!
Amersham Vale Practice is looking for an
enthusiastic, confident and compassionate GP to join our clinical team in a
predominantly clinical triage and urgent care role.
What
makes this role different?
Unlike a traditional salaried GP position, the
majority of your sessions will be spent working on our clinical duty desk,
reviewing incoming patient requests, assessing clinical urgency and determining
the most appropriate course of action.
But you won't be doing this alone!
Our
duty desk is a genuinely collaborative environment, with 23 clinicians working
together during every session. Our
team of GPs and Advanced Nurse Practitioners work alongside one another,
sharing clinical knowledge, discussing complex presentations and supporting
each other in making safe and effective decisions.
Main duties of the jobYour role will include:
Assessing and clinically triaging
incoming patient requests through our online consultation system.
Identifying clinical urgency, managing
risk and determining the most appropriate care pathway. Managing urgent clinical
presentations through telephone or face-to-face consultations where
appropriate.
Directing patients to the most
appropriate clinician or service, whether for same-day care, routine follow-up
or support from other healthcare professionals.
Working closely with fellow duty
clinicians, sharing decisions and discussing challenging cases.
Supporting the effective and safe use
of our clinical resources while ensuring patients receive timely, compassionate
care.
And
because we believe variety matters, you
will also have one or two routine clinicalsessions, allowing you to maintain
continuity of care, manage more complex or ongoing healthneeds and enjoy the
traditional aspects of general practice.
We are particularly interested in a GP who:
Enjoys the pace, variety and
unpredictability of urgent primary care.
Is confident in clinical assessment,
decision-making and managing uncertainty.
Understands the importance of
balancing clinical safety, patient needs and available resources.
Is comfortable with digital systems
and interested in innovative approaches to primary care.
About usA

training practice caring for approximately 16,000 patients in the heart of
Deptford, Southeast London. Based in the modern and spacious Waldron Health
Centre, directly opposite New Cross station, we serve one of London's most
dynamic, culturally diverse and interesting communities.
Our clinical team includes GPs, Advanced Nurse
Practitioners and a Clinical Pharmacist. We are passionate about teamwork.
We are proud of our commitment to inclusive
healthcare. Our practice provides dedicated services for people experiencing
homelessness, asylum seekers and patients with drug and alcohol dependency. We
also have close links with Goldsmiths University and care for a large student
population.
Why
join Amersham Vale?
We believe that a good working environment makes a
real difference, both to our staff and to the patients we care for.
We also believe that work should be enjoyable! Our
regular staff events include practice away days, Christmas celebrations,
bowling and other opportunities to get together, share food, laugh and have
fun.
Additional benefits include our Employee Assistance
Scheme, free eye tests, Cycle to Work scheme and gym scheme.
Interested?
We'd love to hear from you!
If you are a GP who enjoys the challenge of clinical
triage, thrives on teamwork and would welcome the opportunity to practise
general medicine in a slightly different way, we would be delighted to hear
from you.
