Overview

In this role you will provide clinical and operational leadership within the Memory Service to support dementia care for patients, carers, and clinicians. You will deputise for the Memory Service Manager and contribute to strategic development while supervising a team. The role emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration, governance, and service improvement within a trusted NHS setting. You will help ensure high-quality, evidence-based dementia care across the pathway, including education and support for families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership for dementia care within a multidisciplinary framework
  • Oversee referral screening, triage, assessment and care planning with timely interventions
  • Act as expert resource on dementia care, MCA, safeguarding and related processes
  • Support patients, families and carers with education, advice and strategies for challenging behaviours
  • Deputise for the Memory Service Manager and contribute to strategic service development
  • Lead and supervise staff through appraisal, supervision, performance management and development
  • Foster partnerships with GPs, primary care networks, social care, trusts and voluntary sectors
  • Monitor performance metrics, data and KPIs to improve efficiency and outcomes
  • Lead on governance, audits, quality improvement and service development projects
  • Ensure robust clinical documentation and information governance
  • Manage resources including caseloads, staffing and health and safety
  • Promote learning culture, student placements, training and innovation
  • Maintain risk management oversight for safe, person-centred dementia care

Key requirements

  • Qualified mental health practitioner with RMN registration
  • Experience working with people with dementia and knowledge of dementia care
  • Strong leadership and staff management experience; evidence of improving service delivery
  • Ability to apply research to practice and to teach supervise and assess learners
  • Knowledge of counselling/CBT/psychosocial interventions and risk assessment/management
  • Understanding of Mental Health Act, CPA, safeguarding and information governance
  • Ability to work flexibly, meet deadlines, and communicate with a range of stakeholders
