Overview
In this Consultant in Neurology role, you will provide specialised outpatient and outreach neurology care across St Helier and Epsom sites and help expand Neurology services. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, patient-centred care and contribute to policy development, governance, and clinical improvement. The post offers involvement in audits, service development, and cross-site collaboration to strengthen Trust-wide neurology provision. This is a clinically impactful role at a major teaching hospital network with opportunities to shape practice and training.
Responsibilities
- Deliver outpatient neurology services and a daily outreach service to inpatients
- Support development and standardisation of neurology policies across the Trust
- Collaborate with acute and specialist physicians to deliver quality improvements
- Develop new neurology services in line with Trust policy
- Participate in clinical audit and governance activities
- Contribute to service development and cross-site working
- Manage waiting lists for inpatient and outpatient appointments
- Engage in teaching and supervision of trainees and junior staff
Key requirements
- Medical qualification (GMC-registered)
- Entry onto the Specialist Register for GMC or within six months of CCT/CCST
- Appropriate higher medical qualification (MRCP/MRCS or equivalent)
- Accreditation for neurology; relevant NHS experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Multidisciplinary teamwork
- Ability to teach and supervise trainees
- Neurology expertise with internal medicine competencies
- On-call rota participation
- Clinical governance and audit
