Overview
In this role you will deliver high-quality, patient-centred breast cancer care within LNWH. You will work as part of an established, collaborative team across multiple sites, with opportunities to develop a breast tumour site special interest and contribute to service development aligned with Trust priorities. The role combines direct clinical care, MDT participation and supervision/teaching, with potential involvement in research and clinical trials. You will operate in a dynamic environment that emphasizes innovation and continuous improvement in cancer services.
Responsibilities
- Specialist care for breast cancer: assessment, treatment planning and ongoing management
- Support Acute Oncology Service to ensure timely, high-quality care for cancer-related admissions
- Collaborate with CNS teams, chemotherapy nursing staff and MDT colleagues to coordinate care across sites
- Review SACT prescriptions and contribute to clinical trials activity
- Provide on-site clinical support to the Chemotherapy Suite and Clinical Trials Unit as required
- Participate in weekly Breast MDT and relevant tumour-site meetings
- Work with surgical, radiology, pathology and allied health colleagues to maintain evidence-based cancer pathways
- Supervise and educate junior medical staff; participate in recruitment and teaching
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- On the GMC Specialist Register for Medical Oncology or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview
- MRCP (or equivalent)
- Broad-based training in Medical Oncology and general medicine
- IT skills and computer literacy
- Experience in teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff
- NHS experience within last 3 years (desirable)
- Evidence of ongoing interest and achievement in research (desirable)
