Overview
In this role you will join the GSTT severe asthma service across Royal Brompton and Guy's to deliver high-quality respiratory care. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to manage complex asthma and airway conditions, including biologic therapies, and contribute to governance, performance, and service development. Your work will influence patient outcomes, efficiency, and adherence to NICE guidance within a leading international programme. This position offers a chance to shape a world-class respiratory service and collaborate across campuses.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality care to patients within the severe asthma and airway management service
- Participate in governance activities, review clinical outcomes, and benchmark performance
- Manage medical staff processes, including junior doctor hours, leave, and on-call coverage
- Contribute to strategy, business planning, and external clinical networking
- Ensure NICE requirements are reviewed, implemented, and monitored within the specialty
- Represent theTrust in clinical networks and external meetings as delegated by the Clinical Director
- Support multidisciplinary teamwork with nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and speech and language therapists
- Engage in audit, research recruitment, and teaching commitments as part of clinical duties
Key requirements
- Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise
- MRCP or equivalent
- CCT in respiratory medicine
- Clinical experience in severe asthma including biologic therapies
- Desirable: Specialist NHSE Severe Asthma Centre training; cough and upper airway dysfunction; eosinophilic lung disease experience
- Desirable: Higher degree (PhD/MD) in asthma
- Desirable: peer-reviewed publications, teaching experience, clinical audit, and involvement in trials/research
