Overview
In this role you will provide expert clinical care to children with rare neuromuscular disorders within a world-leading paediatric neuromuscular service. You will work across specialist clinics, multidisciplinary teams and advanced therapy programmes, contributing to teaching, research and service development. The post integrates clinical practice with opportunities to participate in audits, trials and education in a leading tertiary centre. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape care and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Deliver outpatient and day-case assessments, diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders
- Provide multidisciplinary clinic care and coordinate investigations and management plans with parents and local teams
- Participate in audits and teaching, and contribute to research and quality improvement
- Engage in weekly multidisciplinary meetings, including muscle pathology and complex cases discussions
- Contribute to the Dubowitz neuromuscular team teaching and training activities
- Represent the service in general and disease-specific clinics and MDT activities
- Support clinical governance and quality/safety improvement initiatives
- Maintain a balanced job plan focused on clinical practice with teaching and research opportunities
Key requirements
- GMC specialist registration or eligibility within six months
- substantial paediatric neurology and neuromuscular disorders experience in a tertiary centre
- commitment to clinical excellence, research, education and multidisciplinary working
- High level written and oral communication
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload
- Ability to work under pressure in a multidisciplinary environment
- Practical experience in Paediatric Neuromuscular and Neurology Medicine
- Experience in leading clinical audit processes
- Ability to apply research findings in clinical/organizational contexts
