Overview
In this role you will lead and expand the Early Pregnancy service, including the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, while delivering expert outpatient and ultrasound care for early pregnancy complications. You will contribute to clinical governance, teaching and service development, and participate in the on-call rota. You will work within a high-performing, patient-centred obstetrics and gynaecology team, collaborating across specialties in east London.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the Early Pregnancy service and EPAU
- Provide specialist outpatient and ultrasound care for early pregnancy complications
- Participate in the consultant on-call rota for obstetrics and gynaecology
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, teaching and service development
- Support multidisciplinary working across women's services
- Lead teaching and clinical research initiatives
- Maintain up-to-date mandatory training and Good Medical Practice requirements
- Collaborate with colleagues across hospital and primary care settings
Key requirements
- GMC Specialist Register in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or within six months of CCT
- Competent in Early Pregnancy Scanning
- Experience in early pregnancy ultrasound and outpatient management pathways
- Commitment to patient care, education, research and service improvement
- Wide experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Desirable: Diploma in Early Pregnancy Ultrasound, leadership and teaching qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication
