Overview
In this role you will provide consultant-led maternity care and gynaecology services across a busy hospital. You will work within the obstetric team to cover the labour ward, clinics, and urgent obstetric care, while contributing to gynaecology services including rapid access clinics, colposcopy, and operations. You will help expand the Gynaecology Risk team and support clinical governance, incidents review, and service development. The post also entails on-call duty for obstetrics and gynaecology and active involvement in education and MDT collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Deliver consultant-led maternity care across labour ward, triage, inpatient wards, and obstetric clinics
- Participate in on-call rota for obstetrics and gynaecology
- Perform gynaecology clinic duties, operating lists, rapid access clinic, and colposcopy
- Expand the Gynaecology Risk team and contribute to incident management
- Contribute to multidisciplinary teamwork, clinical governance, service development, education and training
- Support day-time labour ward cover and caesarean section lists
- Engage in out-of-hours on-call cover for both obstetrics and gynaecology
Key requirements
- Full GMC registration
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist registration
- CCT in O&G and on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from interview date or eligible for Specialist Registration
- BSCCP Colposcopy accreditation
- ATSM in Benign Gynaecology or SITM in Gynaecology Surgical Care or equivalent experience
- Clinical training and experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to UK CCT
- Desirable: MD/PhD, ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice or Labour Ward Lead, MOET, Gynaecological Ultrasound experience
- Leadership within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Motivation and flexibility
- Colposcopy (BSCCP accreditation)
- Gynaecological ultrasound experience
- Operative hysteroscopy and laparoscopy (desirable)
