Overview
In this role you will join a cross-trust team to develop and consolidate geriatric medicine and frailty services for both acute and community settings. You will work across Lewisham & Greenwich Trust and Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, splitting duties between Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Memorial Hospital, with a focus on integrating care from hospital to community neighbourhood teams. You will lead, mentor staff and participate in education, research, and governance to improve outcomes for older people.
Responsibilities
- Support development of comprehensive geriatric medicine service
- Develop frailty initiatives within Greenwich integrated neighbourhood teams
- Enhance interface frailty services for ED and other clinical areas
- Lead and mentor junior medical staff; ensure training requirements are met
- Collaborate with ICBs and community partners for integrated care
- Be an advocate for older people within the organization
- Lead and participate in MDT workflows and ward rounds
- Contribute to research and quality improvement
- Meet targets for outpatient and ED waiting times
- Provide undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision
Key requirements
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP or equivalent
- GMC registration and licence to practise
- Specialist Register for Geriatric Medicine or within six months of CCT
- Broad-based training in acute, general and geriatric medicine
- Experience in clinical governance and audit
- Commitment to teaching and training
- Willingness to take on additional professional responsibilities
