Overview

In this role you will lead endocrine and diabetes clinical services across multiple sites, contributing to outpatient clinics, ward care, and on-call cover within a large NHS trust. You will participate in MDTs, triage referrals, and supervise a multidisciplinary team while engaging in undergraduate teaching. The position blends clinical leadership with teaching and regional collaboration, supporting high-quality patient care in endocrine disorders and diabetes. This is a chance to impact service development and education in a major teaching NHS environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver four clinics per week (reduced when covering inpatient care)
  • Attend MDTs in person or virtually
  • Triaging endocrinology/diabetes referrals on the FDP system
  • Review ward referrals to the service
  • Contribute to care of general medicine patients on rota
  • Participate in acute on-call rota for emergencies and ambulatory care
  • Supervise junior doctors and multidisciplinary team
  • Undertake undergraduate teaching

Key requirements

  • MRCP or equivalent
  • GMC register - Licence to practice
  • GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia (or within 6 months of CCT)
  • Desirable: MD, PhD or FRCPath; CCT in Endocrinology & GIM
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Clinical leadership in development of clinical services
  • Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
  • Quality improvement emphasis (desirable)
