Overview
As a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Enfield North Core Team, you will lead and shape mental health care for adults with severe mental illness in a community setting. You will provide clinical leadership, deliver direct care, and contribute to service development and clinical pathways. The role involves working within an MDT, fulfilling governance and on-call duties, and guiding the team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. This is a chance to impact local pathways, performance, and outcomes within NLFT’s mission to bring excellent care closer to home.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership for the Enfield North Locality Team
- Manage a caseload of patients with SMI and oversee treatment plans
- Act as Responsible Clinician for CTO-treated clients
- Contribute to assessment of new referrals and multidisciplinary care planning
- Ensure compliance with Mental Health Act, safeguarding, and governance
- Maintain electronic records and routine outcome monitoring
- Supervise and educate medical staff and other professionals
- Participate in on-call rota (1:32) and weekly team meetings
- Engage in management and governance activities to develop the service
- Shape clinical pathways and priorities within the service line
Key requirements
- MBBS or equivalent and Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- Section 12 approved or able to achieve within 3 months
- Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within 3 months
- Open Dialogue Training or equivalent clinical qualifications desirable
- Valid UK driving licence or alternative
- Excellent knowledge of specialty and bio-psycho-social approach
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to deliver teaching and supervise colleagues
- Experience in audit, quality improvement, and service evaluation
- Ability to lead and work in a team and manage clinical uncertainty
