In this Band 6 Clinical Team Leader role, you will lead and coordinate care in Colne Ward, supporting a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity mental health inpatient setting. You drive safe, evidence-based nursing practice and bed management outside standard hours, while championing trauma-informed care and continuous professional development. You will mentor staff, oversee clinical standards, and contribute to improvements in patient outcomes. Responsibilities
- Assume Unit/Site Coordinator role multiple times per month and provide after-hours unit management and bed flow coordination
- Provide senior nursing leadership and guidance across the unit, 24/7
- Demonstrate strong communication with service users, carers, and professionals
- Lead and role-model best practices on the ward and wider unit
- Ensure high standards of safety, care, and documentation; maintain comprehensive patient records
- Participate in TMVA training and contribute to violence and aggression management as required
- Support continuous professional development and collaborative teamwork
- Promote a culture of learning from adverse events, audits, and benchmarking to improve outcomes
Key requirements
- Registered NMC Mental Health Nurse
- Numeracy skills for safe medication administration
- Evidence of relevant Continuous Professional Development
- Essential experience as Band 5 nurse
- Able to communicate with multidisciplinary teams and manage handovers
- Maintaining electronic patient records and CNWL policies
- Mentor, teach, supervise and support others in the team
