Overview
In this Band 8a role, you will deliver Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT) to service users while contributing to outreach for Complex Emotional Needs across Newham. You’ll supervise colleagues, train teams, and lead service development including external consultation. The role blends direct clinical work with leadership and training in a collaborative, reflective team environment. You will help shape MBT provision and ensure coordinated care across services. Responsibilities
- Deliver specialised MBT to service users and develop tailored treatment plans
- Perform comprehensive psychological assessments and produce detailed reports for referrers and patients
- Provide clinical supervision and offer consultation to professionals and agencies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
- Lead on treatment approaches for complex needs and contribute to service development and care planning
- Engage in outreach work within community teams and support supervision and training initiatives
Key requirements
- Doctorate in Clinical / Counselling Psychology or equivalent with HCPC registration
- Experience with complex emotional needs and risk of self-harm
- Experience in delivering therapeutic interventions to adults with severe mental health problems
- Experience in group work and in training/consultation
- Ability to supervise and provide consultation; knowledge of Personality Disorder and MBT is desirable
