Overview

In this role you will apply expert psychological assessment and intervention within a multidisciplinary CAMHS team servicing young people with significant learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental needs. You will work closely with partners across social services, paediatrics, and schools to deliver specialist care and supervision to staff. You will lead complex evaluations, formulate intervention plans, and provide PBS guidance to families and schools. Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist assessments using complex data from multiple sources and settings
  • Conduct cognitive and adaptive behavior and neurodevelopmental assessments
  • Deliver Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) interventions and advise schools
  • Formulate and implement intervention plans with shared decision making
  • Provide clinical supervision and appraisal of identified clinical staff
  • Support induction of new staff and trainees
  • Carry out risk assessment and risk management, advising other professionals

Key requirements

  • Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or equivalent); HCPC Practitioner Psychologist registration
  • Experience with children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties within mental health services
  • Ability to conduct complex assessments and manage high distress
  • Knowledge of psychological therapies for children, young people and families
  • Commitment to professional governance and high standards of practice
