Overview
In this Band 7 Specialist Practitioner role, you will provide a specialist clinical service to the Adolescent At-risk & Forensic Service within CAMHS. You will conduct highly specialist assessments for young people with complex needs and high-risk behaviours, and deliver evidence-based interventions with families and systems around them. You will support a psychologically safe environment, provide supervision, and contribute to service evaluation and research. This is a chance to shape care for vulnerable youths with neurodiversity and complex trauma in a nationally recognized service.
Responsibilities
- Conduct highly specialist assessments of youths with complex mental health needs and high-risk behaviours, including risk and neuropsychological evaluations
- Provide direct and indirect evidence-based psychological interventions for patients, families, and systems
- Foster a psychologically safe environment and support diverse staff and service users
- Provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate
- Engage in service evaluation, audit, and research activities
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines and service procedures
Key requirements
- HCPC-registered as Clinical or Forensic Psychologist (Professional Doctorate or MSc+Diploma)
- Post-entry training in CBT/DBT (diploma or short course)
- Completed training in clinical supervision
- Experience with adolescent offending or at-risk youths and specialist psychological assessment (neuropsychological/forensic)
- Knowledge of youth violence, harmful sexual behaviour, exploitation, and related treatment approaches
- Ability to deliver CBT/DBT or other evidence-based interventions with children, parents, and systems
