This is a substantive consultant child & adolescent psychiatrist post which has been created by the conversion of a fixed term post into a permanent position, to provide clinical leadership and Consultant Psychiatry expertise in the Neurodevelopmental Pathway (NDP) in Lambeth CAMHS, specifically focused on the ADHD pathway within the service. It offers a unique opportunity to join an established and dynamic team of 5 Consultant Psychiatrists in Lambeth CAMHS, within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
This post holder will provide consultant psychiatry leadership and clinical input to the ADHD pathway in Lambeth CAMHS, including the ADHD medication clinic (LARC). Operationally this postholder will be based between the ADHD medication clinic and the River Team (higher-complexity CAMHS) for children and young people up to the age of 18 years. There are six consultant child and adolescent psychiatry posts in Lambeth CAMHS (a total of 5.5 WTE), providing local opportunities for significant peer support and consultation. We have specialist interests in early intervention, GP consultation, ADHD, at-risk populations and crisis care.
The successful applicant will also join the SLaM consultant CAMHS on-call rota.

Main duties of the job:
- Assessment and management of children and young people, providing psychiatric input for both routine and emergency clinical care.
- Provide strong clinical leadership and vision for the ADHD pathway and LARC medication clinic.
- Supervision of non-consultant medical staff.
- Liaising and communicating with the MDT, other professionals, teams and agencies.
- Provision of consultation and advice to other CAMHS teams.
- Participation in peer and group supervision meetings.
- Participation in training of medical students, psychiatric residents and multidisciplinary staff.
- Attend monthly Senior Management Team meetings and fulfil SMT membership roles and responsibilities as a clinical leader.
Essential Qualifications:
- Primary medical qualification.
- Evidence of post-graduate professional qualifications in psychiatry.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Evidence for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT in C&A psychiatry.
- Section 12 approved and Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
Training and Experience:
- Experience in Outpatient/Community Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Experience of assessing and managing complex co-morbidities.
- Experience in managing neurodevelopmental conditions (ASC, ADHD and ID).
Academic Skills and Lifelong Learning:
- Experience of teaching a range of disciplines.
- Involvement in research projects.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good ability to engage marginalised children, young people and their families.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
