Overview

In this role you support the clinical leadership of an adolescent CAMHS inpatient ward, ensuring safe staffing, high-quality care and a positive team culture. You work with the Ward Manager and multidisciplinary teams to uphold standards, drive service improvements and mentor junior staff. You will develop leadership and clinical skills through structured training, with opportunities to grow within CAMHS Nursing Academy. This role offers meaningful work in a patient-centered, recovery-focused environment at Bethlem Royal Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Support clinical leadership on the ward and collaborate with the Ward Manager and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ensure safe staffing levels and effective care delivery
  • Uphold clinical standards and promote a safe, therapeutic environment
  • Mentor and develop junior staff; contribute to staff training
  • Contribute to planning and delivery of high-quality clinical care and service improvements
  • Assess and manage risk (formal and informal) balancing with least restrictive practice
  • Apply knowledge of key legal frameworks (Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Children Act) to practice
  • Engage in leadership development and support staff through mentorship and coaching

Key requirements

  • Qualified RMN and registration with UK professional body
  • Strong interest in inpatient CAMHS setting
  • Knowledge of relevant professional and clinical legislation; governance and audit
  • Experience as a preceptor/mentor; teaching ability
  • Ability to work flexible 24-hour patterns including nights and weekends
