Overview
In this role you contribute to Clean Room GMP clinical processing and advanced immunoselection workflows. You will support cell culture, cryopreservation, biobanking, and flow cytometry to ensure high-quality patient care. You’ll drive validation, introduce new techniques, and uphold quality systems while participating in translational research. You work closely with medical, nursing, and pharmacy teams to enable clinical therapies. This is a chance to shape innovative cellular therapies within a respected NHS Trust.

Responsibilities
- Develop and apply specialist quality testing skills to evaluate patient samples and product quality.
- Perform processing in controlled clean rooms to maintain regulatory compliance and safety for clinical cell harvests.
- Carry out quality tests including flow cytometry, full blood count, and colony assays.
- Cryopreserve cellular therapy products according to SOPs.
- Support ATMP therapy activities and prepare Cell Therapy Infusion Files for release.
- Maintain communication with clinical and research teams across Imperial College NHS Trust and external collaborators.
- Provide out-of-hours coverage on a rotating basis, including weekends/evenings and off-site on-call.
- Participate in validation and implementation of new laboratory techniques and contribute to data management and training with quality systems.
Key requirements
- HCPC registration (Health and Care Professions Council)
- BSc in Haematology/Blood Transfusion/Immunology
- Experience in Haematology, Blood Transfusion Science, Immunology or a GMP laboratory
- Desirable: experience in Grade B clean room production and HPC processing/quality testing (flow cytometry)
