Overview
In this bank role, you will deliver a full range of podiatry care in community settings, clinics, and domiciliary visits, focusing on high-risk patients. You’ll work autonomously within a supportive multidisciplinary team to develop personalised care plans and manage a diverse caseload. Your clinical expertise and communication will drive high-quality care and patient independence in Diabetes, Wound Care, and nail surgery contexts.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessment and full range of podiatry treatments in community/outreach clinics, homes, care homes and day centres
- Develop and agree personalised treatment plans with clients as an autonomous practitioner with support from senior staff
- Ensure protection of health and wellbeing; alert for safeguarding concerns for children and vulnerable adults
- Refer to specialist teams (nail surgery, biomechanical assessment) or primary/acute care as needed
- Manage a caseload with complex health needs and support patients to improve self-care
- Collaborate within primary, secondary and community care teams for multi-disciplinary foot pathology care
- Aim for maximum independence for clients through effective self-care and management
Key requirements
- HCPC Registered Podiatrist
- BSc (Hons) Podiatry
- Minimum 12 months experience as a band 5 podiatrist in NHS
- Previous NHS experience in wound care
- Domiciliary and Nursing Home experience
- Desirable: Research/audit/Qi experience
- Desirable: Line management experience
- Current UK registration (as per NHS Careers)
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Good interpersonal skills
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Wound care for high-risk patients
- Scalpel debridement of nail and soft tissue pathology
- Diabetes-related foot care
