Overview
In this role you will provide clinical leadership within the Integrated Mental Health Team at HMP Wymott, shaping trauma‑informed mental health services across sites. You will oversee assessment, formulation and delivery of complex psychological interventions, while supporting a multidisciplinary team and developing the service. The position offers regional development opportunities and a chance to influence practice in a challenging prison environment. Responsibilities
- Provide highly specialist psychological assessment for high complexity cases
- Lead and evaluate trauma-informed interventions and formulations
- Offer clinical oversight to IMHT and contribute to risk assessments
- Deliver 1:1 and group interventions (Trauma Informed 'Making Sense' Programme) and supervise training
- Deliver teaching/training to staff and contribute to audit, research and service evaluation
- Participate in CPD, supervision and practice development; supervise junior colleagues
- Contribute to policy, service development and governance meetings
- Plan, coordinate and evaluate specialized treatment plans for high-risk individuals
- Maintain accurate records and outcomes data (PTS dashboard)
- Collaborate with Offender Management and Probation during transitions to community/open conditions
- Engage with regional/national psychology meetings and adhere to HCPC/BPS/BABCP codes
- Support recruitment processes and contribute to research and dissemination
- Represent psychology at service development and governance discussions
Key requirements
- Qualified clinical, counselling or forensic psychologist
- HCPC registered practitioner psychologist
- Postgraduate training in at least one psychological therapy modality relevant to severe/longstanding mental health difficulties (e.g., CBT, Systemic/Families, Mindfulness, CAT, DBT, Mentalisation, Schema Therapy)
- Knowledge of current good practice and government health policies; experience in secure environments
