Overview
In this role you will lead a specialised ophthalmology service as a retina practitioner, managing an independent caseload within the Medical Retina pathway. You collaborate across a broad MDT to deliver patient-centred, evidence-based care and contribute to service planning and governance. You will supervise junior staff and support training while escalating complex cases to senior colleagues. This position offers progression from Band 6 to Band 7 as training completes, within a values-driven Trust.

Responsibilities
- Manage an independent caseload within Ophthalmology Retina service
- Provide patient-centred, evidence-based clinical care including history taking, slit lamp exam, imaging/interpretation, diagnosis and intravitreal injections
- Collaborate with patients, carers, and MDT members; assist with service planning and future demand planning
- Provide clinical supervision to Band 6 Nurse Injectors and junior staff; promote safe practice and develop competencies
- Escalate complex cases to Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Ophthalmology Doctor, or Consultant Ophthalmologist when scope is exceeded
- Contribute to service planning, education, training, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement in Medical Retina
