Overview

In this role you contribute as a Specialty Doctor within the LPOP team to support older patients across hospital and community settings. You will develop your clinical role alongside a framework of education, appraisal, and mentorship, with protected time for professional development. You provide assessments, clinical advice, and initial management plans while supporting MDT collaboration and education for staff. The position offers strong ties to a teaching trust culture and opportunities towards CESR or higher training.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments on older patients in hospital wards
  • Provide clinical advice and contribute to initial management plans
  • Support emergency cover and teaching/training for hospital staff
  • Join a multi-disciplinary team with nurses, management, and support staff
  • Collaborate with integrated Mental Health Service components (inpatient, community, memory service)
  • Engage in professional development activities, peer support, and appraisal processes
  • Participate in the Trust-wide teaching programme and SAS activities
  • Ensure compliance with Section 12 requirements and annual medical appraisal

Key requirements

  • MBBS/MBChB or equivalent and GMC registration
  • Section 12 Approval
  • Recent clinical experience (within 12 months)
  • 4 years whole-time equivalent doctor experience with 2 years in psychiatry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working within an MDT
  • UK registration currently required
