Job summaryWe are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Pharmacist, with an interest in clinical trials, to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team. A background in clinical trials is not essential as full training will be provided to develop the knowledge and skills to succeed in this post. This post will primarily be based at the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) where research active areas include cardiology, neurosciences, paediatric medicine and paediatric oncology. With a growing development of early phase studies and ATIMPs (Advanced Therapy Investigational Medicinal Products) in these areas, you will get good experience of novel therapies. In your clinical trials role, you will work as part of the trials team setting-up new studies and contributing to the on-going management of established trials. You will be required to work collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues, research teams and external trial Sponsors to ensure that trials are set up in a timely manner and managed in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). The post holder will also provide a clinical commitment as part of the LGI Adult Clinical Pharmacy Team. Rotations are designed to steer you through the Advanced Level Framework and include a range of medical, surgical and highly specialist areas including neurosciences, cardiology, major trauma and a hyper-acute stroke unit.Main duties of the jobJOB DIMENSIONS Provide a specialist clinical pharmacist service to patients and the multidisciplinary team within a given specialty. Ensure medicines are used appropriately, safely, and cost effectively in accordance with Trust policy, standard operating procedures, and medicines legislation. Monitors drug use within their clinical area. This includes recording of significant clinical interventions, risk management, and some basic financial aspects. Supervise, along with other members of their multidisciplinary team, the development and implementation of treatment protocols, and guidelines for use of drugs within the clinical area. Responsible for training pharmacists, and other health care professionals, on aspects of drug use within the clinical area. Provides minimum of at least one 4 hour session of service cover in the dispensary or aseptic dispensary per week. To act as the Responsible Pharmacist in line with local procedures.
