Consultant Psychiatrist in Leeds

We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Yorkshire Region, working across our West Yorkshire sites consisting of HMP Leeds, HMP Wakefield, and HMP Wealstun. Working across a range of sites offers you the opportunities for a more varied work schedule and patient group.

Within this position, you will be working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team across all 3 sites including other Psychiatrists.

Hours

This role is 40 hours per week, the split will include the following sessions:

• 2 sessions at HMP Leeds
• 3 sessions at Wakefield
• 3 sessions at Wealstun
• 2 sessions CPD day

If you are looking for part-time hours, we may be able to split the sessions into a job share.

Salary

You will receive an annual salary up to £196,736 per annum - FTE depending on experience. This will be pro rata for a part-time role.

How will we support you?

• You will be part of a team of 20 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists.
• You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision.
• Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course.
• Competency framework.

Main duties of the job

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

• Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite.
• Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision.
• Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi-professional complex case reviews.

Requirements

• Registered professional with current registration (GMC).
• Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
• Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983.
• Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
• Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PDA.
• Aware of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation.
