Overview
In this role, you will lead and shape the QC service within Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services, focusing on Microbiology, Temperature Monitoring/Control, and Gas Testing. You will coordinate QA/QC activities, drive improvements, and ensure compliance with GMP and regulatory standards. You will provide expert QA guidance across preparative services and support staff development and training. The role supports patient safety and service excellence in a highly regulated environment, with opportunities for flexible working. It offers leadership across cross-functional teams and accountability for continuous quality improvement.

Responsibilities
- Lead development and delivery of QC services for Microbiology, Temperature Monitoring/Control, and Gas Testing
- Coordinate operational management of the overall QC service
- Drive improvement and innovation within QC
- Ensure GMP and regulatory compliance across activities
- Provide specialist QA guidance across preparative services and external customers
- Plan and manage projects to support continuous QC improvements
- Plan validation strategies and activities
- Lead specialist staff training and development
- Support weekends, late nights, Bank Holidays and major incidents as required
- Foster a culture of high quality, safety, and regulatory compliance
Key requirements
- significant experience in quality control and pharmaceutical/aseptic services
- extensive experience in Microbiology and Medical Gas Testing
- experience in Cleanroom Testing or Temperature monitoring is beneficial
- strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
- ability to manage complex quality issues and influence practice
- ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and support service development
- commitment to patient safety and continuous improvement of pharmacy preparative services
