Overview
In this role you will deliver specialist clinical pharmacy services to inpatient wards, with a focus on admission areas, ensuring safe and effective use of medicines. You will support medicine optimisation initiatives and contribute to a fully electronic prescribing and patient record environment. You will train and supervise newly qualified pharmacists and trainees, while collaborating with clinicians across acute services. The role is hospital‑level, with weekend and on‑call duties, offering influence on patient care and pharmacy practice across UHMB. Responsibilities
- Provide specialist clinical pharmacy service to inpatient wards, especially admission areas
- Ensure high quality, safe, effective, legal and accurate use of medicines
- Support medicine optimisation initiatives
- Train and supervise newly qualified pharmacists and trainee pharmacists
- Work within a fully electronic prescribing and electronic patient record environment
- Participate in weekend, bank holiday and on‑call duties
Key requirements
- Masters degree in Pharmacy
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Experience liaising with other healthcare professionals (e.g., consultants, GPs)
- Acute hospital experience post registration
- Good verbal and written communication
- Ability to work under pressure
- Team player with initiative
- Clinical knowledge of current therapeutics
- Organisation and prioritisation of clinical work
- Accuracy and analytical skills
